Sutter Health Academic Partnership

About

 

California Northstate University’s Master of Healthcare Administration program has partnered with Sutter Health to offer exclusive benefits to Sutter Health employees. Through this pioneering academic collaboration, all employees who meet our admissions requirements are eligible for a 10% discount on the total cost of the degree. Additionally, employees who have completed Sutter's Leadership Academy certificate may waive three elective courses. Further details are provided below.

Academic Partnership Benefits
• Total cost per semester $14,333 (3-semesters total).
• 10% discount on CNU MHA total degree cost. This
discount cannot be combined with other discounts.
• Waiver of GMAT/GRE.
• Students who complete Sutter’s Leadership Academy
are eligible to waive 3 elective courses (9 units)- MHA 511,
512, and 521.

About the MHA 

CNU ‘s Master of Healthcare Administration (MHA) blends world-class business and healthcare faculty from the Northern CA region. Courses incorporate industry leaders and professionals to integrate real-world experience and case studies. Instructors are accessible and serve as mentors during a student’s academic journey.


The MHA program is delivered in a HyFlex format, offering students the flexibility to choose between hybrid and fully online options. Designed with working professionals in mind, the structure allows students to focus on one course at a time in a streamlined 1-year track. Courses are offered in 4-week blocks, with a total of 39 units (13 courses) completed over the span of 3 semesters.


Class Schedule: Fridays: 4:30 PM – 8:30 PM and Saturdays: 8:00 AM – 3:30 PM


Weekly Course Format: Weeks 1, 2, and 4: In-person (Rancho Cordova campus) or synchronous
online sessions and Week 3: Asynchronous online learning

 

This weekend-based schedule provides the flexibility students need to balance academic,
professional, and personal commitments.​

Admission Requirements:

​

Fall 2026 Applications Now Open! 

Applicant Deadline- July 11, 2026 (students with international transcripts submit applications 1-month earlier for evaluation).

​

1. Bachelor’s Degree: A bachelor’s degree,
from an accredited, four-year equivalent program
with a minimum 2.5 GPA.

​

2. Official Transcripts: Your academic records from each college-level institution you have attended are required. Transcripts can be ordered under Academic History > Colleges Attended. Canadian applicants and all other foreign applicants must submit a foreign coursework evaluation by one of the Foreign Evaluation Vendors. CNU accepts evaluations from ECE, IERF, WES, and Education Perspectives. Here is how to send your evaluation report to HAMPCAS.

3. Work Experience: minimum of one year of professional experience in the healthcare industry (broadly defined) with a basic understanding of the US healthcare system and its regulatory principles.

 

4. Official GRE/GMAT waived

​5. Letters of Recommendation: At least (1)
from a current unit supervisor/sponsor.

​

6. Statement of Purpose: Please attach your personal essay under Program Materials > (this program) > Documents tab > Required Documents > Personal Essay.

7. Current Resume: Please attach your CV/Resume under Supporting Information > Documents.

​

8. Certificate of completion: from Sutter Health’s Leadership Academy in order to articulate 9 units of elective credit. (submit via email to: admissions.mha@cnsu.edu)

9. Application Fee: $115

​

10. A Zoom interview with the faculty committee: We will contact you to schedule.

Application to California Northstate University MHA program is through HAMPCAS - the Health Administration, Management & Policy Centralized Application Service.
